A trustee is a person or firm that manages assets for a third party.
A trustee has fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of the beneficiaries. The trustee holds the legal title for the assets. An example is an inheritance trust which may be created to manage and later distribute assets to children or grandchildren.
